The Waxidermist, also known as Lawkyz, has been digging through vinyl crates for decades in search of the ultimate sample. A beatmaker and bassist, he shapes his tracks from vinyl, samples, and sounds he collects, chops, and folds himself, carving a unique path where hip-hop, funk, soul, and jazz converge.
His universe drifts between manga, comics, and soundtracks of imaginary films, influenced by Asia and feudal Japan, as well as all the crosscurrents he’s encountered along the way: Guts, Erik Truffaz, The Herbaliser, ASM, Élodie Rama, and Anna Kova.
In July 2025, he released Ghost of The Way, an album that captures the essence of his sonic quest, balancing hypnotic grooves with narrative explorations. In his sets and productions, the legend of a samurai comes to life, where every MPC hit or vinyl spin becomes a ritual, a suspended moment between tradition and invention.
Each track opens a piece of the puzzle, a path where hip-hop intersects with manga, vinyl, and buried legends.
