mCurtis grew up between the city of Heraklion and the coastal area of Matala, immersed from an early age in the rhythms and textures of the Mediterranean. Early on, he absorbed influences from experimental analog machines and a wide range of musical horizons: trip-hop, electronica, cinematic atmospheres and jazzy melodies. At eighteen, he began working in radio as a DJ and producer, refining his sonic language through a largely self-taught process, later reinforced by studies at the Dubspot DJ School in New York in 2013.
From that point on, mCurtis developed a dense and precise production universe, blending electronic textures, organic beats and hybrid instrumentation. His album YOMI (2018) marked a key milestone in his career and was ranked among the 50 best trip-hop albums of the year by Trip Hop Nation. In parallel, he released the track You Are The Sun, a collaboration with Sarah Jay (a vocalist featured on projects connected to Massive Attack). Since then, he has released five albums along with numerous singles and remixes, continuously exploring new sound territories and stylistic fusions.
In 2025, Bop Ma Step represents a further step forward: an instrumental journey where deep bass lines, Asian instruments and Japanese vocal samples intertwine within a powerful, visceral form of experimental hip-hop. His live performances, notably at the Venetian Walls Festival and the Cretan Comic Con, reflect the same energy, combining precision with controlled improvisation. Between studio work and the stage, mCurtis continues to push the boundaries of a sound that is at once Mediterranean, cosmic and deeply personal.
