When Bristol comes to mind, people often think of Trip-Hop, but the city’s musical landscape is far richer. Frenic is part of this scene, where Hip Hop, experimental beats, and urban sounds intersect. As a DJ and producer, he uses his turntablism skills to blend genres and craft his own beats influenced by Hip Hop, Trip-Hop, Lo-Fi, and Dub. Tracks like Alright and Travel Alone have taken him to stages worldwide, including Glastonbury, Fusion Festival in Germany, Jazz Cafe London, and Six D.O.G.S in Athens.
Resident DJ at Bristol’s AFT Raps nights, he has shared the stage with Hip Hop heavyweights from Mobb Deep to Ghostface Killah, including ONYX, Talib Kweli, Benny The Butcher, Skinnyman, and Klashnekoff. His sets emphasize selection, groove, and precision, always rooted in independent Hip Hop culture and the city’s musical heritage.
Alongside his performances, Frenic runs his label, This One Records, a space of freedom for his own releases and those of other artists. His career includes collaborations with Marc 7 (Jurassic 5), ASM, Mylo Stone, and Skinnyman. Together with Yellowtone, projects like Simulacrum continue this approach, fusing hip-hop, abstract forms, and Trip-Hop heritage, grounded in a sound shaped by Bristol.
