DJ Kirsa operates at the crossroads of turntablism, production and live improvisation. Trained outside academic frameworks, he developed an instinctive approach to scratching and mixing from the late 1990s onward, shaped by freestyle practice and the collision of styles. Early on, turntables became a full-fledged instrument for him — a space of play and constant tension.
After several years exploring DJing through radio shows, clubs and alternative venues, his appetite for improvisation led him toward numerous onstage encounters and no-safety-net performances. Residencies, extended sets and marathon sessions refined a direct approach to sound, grounded in listening, reaction and real-time dialogue with the moment.
His meeting with Ghostown marked a lasting turning point. DJ Kirsa took part in the entire journey, from albums to tours, helping to shape a distinctive sonic identity blending abstract beats, electronic textures and rhythmic narration. Alongside this work, he developed a solo project with multiple influences, where electro, trip-hop, dub, drum’n’bass and rock intersect — without hierarchy or fixed format.
Over the years, he has collaborated on and appeared on albums by Degiheugi (The Broken Symphony), UHT° (Ghost Forest Remix), Duval MC (Matières Premières), Screenatorium (Audimat) and Mister Mowg (Le Monde des Humains), and shared the stage with artists such as Birdy Nam Nam, Chinese Man and Tha Trickaz. Committed to the circulation of knowledge and practice, he is also involved in workshops and educational settings, extending a vision of DJing as a collective, living and evolving culture.
