With Fairy Carousel, DJ Kirsa, member of Ghostown, continues his balancing act between abstract hip-hop and trip-hop atmospheres. Rather than aiming for an immediate hook, the track builds tension and circular motion, drawing the listener in almost against their will.

Everything turns, returns, persists. Fairy Carousel functions like a mental carousel, propelled by a Maloya vocal sample that is as mesmerizing as it is enigmatic. Far from being a mere sonic effect, this voice—rooted in the traditional dance and song of Réunion Island—adds an organic, almost ritualistic dimension. The track navigates constantly between shadowed zones and glimmers of hope, where nothing is ever fixed or binary.

The beatmaking is precise, sculpted, comfortably groovy yet subtly unsettling. Kirsa walks the line without ever smoothing over his vision. Every detail matters, down to the fragile, ambiguous xylophone at the end, leaving one questioning: awakening, or the prolongation of a dream?

The single’s artwork, created by Al’pics, perfectly extends this sensation. The image suggests more than it explains, reflecting a dreamlike and disquieting universe that mirrors the track’s aesthetic.

Wakeful dream, altered state of consciousness, or simply a wheel that keeps turning? Fairy Carousel provides no answers—and that is precisely what makes it a track that settles in, invites repeated listens, and naturally finds its place among those songs you keep close, far from disposable formats.
